Sonographer School

The “Sonographer School” is a project newly established within the directorate of HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Sciences. Its status is equivalent to that of a department, in accordance with Article 22, paragraph 2 of the Regulations by the Chulabhorn Royal Academy on the administration of HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Sciences, 2016. The school has an independent and efficient structure thus enabling it to achieve the established purposes. Its main focus is to produce more medical personnel, by offering short-term and intermediate courses, Graduate Diploma Program and Master’s Degree courses.

Objectives of Establishing Medical Ultrasound School
1. To produce medical personnel with knowledge of Medical Sonography capabilities at the international standards.
2. To produce medical personnel with expertise in Medical Sonography which, in effect, shall reduce the workload of the radiologist today.
3. To provide people across the country access to ultrasound examinations.
4. To accord patients prompt diagnosis, keeping pace with the spread of the disease.

The “Sonographer School” places its emphasis on producing graduates with the knowledge and expertise in the field of sonography, capable of applying the knowledge to their work with quality not only in the public but also in private sector.

Q: Highlights and overview of this course
A: Master of Science Program in Medical Sonography focuses on producing graduates with the knowledge and expertise in the field of Medical ultrasonography, and are capable of imparting the knowledge with a fine attitude. This follows the value “teacher as the creator” to develop knowledge including lifelong learning. These graduates will also be a main force in developing the national public health system. They shall be able to put all the knowledge acquired into practice with quality and in accordance with the international standards. Therefore, the design and architecture of this course will not only address the shortage of trained personnel in medical sonography but also will augment the potential of personnel specialized in this field who, hence, can transfer knowledge and create new one of quality and ethics.

Q: Work and career opportunities
A: Following graduation of Master of Science (Medical Sonography), radiologist, specialist in Medical Ultrasound, or scientist and medical ultrasound expert in health services are eligible for work related to ultrasound for diagnosis, as researcher, teacher, academician, and profession dealing with ultrasound tools. They may also pursue further studies in ultrasound, radiology, health sciences or related fields in the country or abroad.
